When running the Geophone Resistance test, the Ex6 program sometimes freezes. We have not found a cause of this problem. The original hypothesis that this would mainly happen when the data logger batteries were low proved to be unfounded. If you have any guesses, please leave a comment!
Guralp Seismometers
Some of the seismometers do not get a green mass balance check, even when the bubble is perfectly centered. We consider that one possible reason may be that the seismometer is not mounted perfectly straight in the casing. By testing using the mass balance channel, we will be able to determine what the bubble position should be for these seismometers. This problem has been noted for the serial numbers shown in the table below.
"Disk not found" message. If the external hard-drive disk was connected to the laptop and then it is connected to the seismometer, the disk is "not found". To fix this: unplug the power cable and have the disk power down. Then reconnect the power and the disk will work with the seismometer. It appears that once the disk has been connected to the laptop, it no longer recognizes a connection to another device until it is powered down and back up.

LaCie rugged disk drive on campus troubleshoot

Set up Seismometer T6J30/C2738, GPS G17638, and Battery B-009 on campus and used both laptops to attempt a successful flush. Both laptops gave the error message of "no disk found" when flush command was entered in Scream!.
